Privacy policy
In short: Chronos asks you for nothing, creates no account, shows no ads and does not measure its audience. The site itself therefore collects no personal data.
Data controller
Salks, reachable at salks@earthquest.fr. Full details are in the legal notice.
Data processed
| Situation | Data | Purpose | Legal basis | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Visiting the site | IP address, date, requested page, browser (host's technical logs) | Running and securing the site | Legitimate interest | Depends on the host, usually 30 days at most |
| Emailing the publisher | Email address, name, message content | Replying to you | Legitimate interest / pre-contractual measures | 3 years after the last exchange |
No data is sold, rented or used for profiling or advertising.
Storage in your browser
The site remembers your theme (dark or light) and whether you have already seen the intro animation. This stays on your device and is never sent to us. Details are on the Cookies and storage page.
Pythia (the docs assistant)
By default, Pythia searches an index of the docs downloaded by your browser: your questions never leave your device. The conversation is kept in the tab (session storage) and disappears when you close it.
If AI mode is enabled (answers then say "Answer written by AI"), your question and the last messages of the conversation are sent to the site's server, then to the configured AI provider (by default Groq, open Llama model) to write the answer from the doc passages. They are only used to produce that answer and are not stored by the site. Don't include personal data.
Recipients and transfers
Only the publisher and the host (Cloudflare, Inc. (Cloudflare Pages)) have access to the data above. If the host is located outside the European Union, the transfer is covered by the safeguards provided by the GDPR (adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses).
Fonts are served by the site itself: no request is made to Google Fonts or any other third-party service during your visit. Links to GitHub or other sites take you there, under their own policy.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and port your data. To exercise these rights, write to salks@earthquest.fr. You will get an answer within one month.
If you believe your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL.
